20th Pidley International Teddy Bear Freefall Competition

One of the most unusual charities in Huntingdonshire is holding its 20th International Teddy Freefall Competition this September 9th.  The landing target for this celebrated charity aerial jump is located at Rookery Farm, Pidley near Huntingdon.

Ten teddy bears are in the final tough stages of training for the Freefall Competition, raising much-needed funds for local charity Pidley Mountain Rescue Team which provides specialised equipment to improve the independence and quality of life for children living in Huntingdonshire who are coping with disabilities or mobility issues.

The charity jump starts at 10am till 2pm and is a great day out for all the family; over 500 supporters attending last year’s event with free-entry and parking. The dare-devil professional parachuting teddies, sponsored by local companies, jump one-by-one from a Cambridge Aero Club plane into the skies over Pidley village; each one focused on landing the nearest to the winning pot of honey.

The day provides plenty of family entertainment including the famous free fall competition.  Children are encouraged to bring along their own teddies along and enter them into the Best Dressed Teddy competition and also meet Pidley Ted and his team of stretcher-bearer Brownies.  With delicious food, drink and cakes, games and activities what better day could you spend and for a great cause.

The International Teddy Free Fall competition was featured on  “Over to You” with Nicola Rule on Thursday 31st August at 7pm.    HCR104fm was been informed after the event that £5,000 was raised by 2017’s efforts.   Well done PMT!
