Civic Awards for young radio stars of tomorrow
The Student Group at HCRfm, Huntingdon's new community radio service have had their activities recognised in the Cambridge Community Foundation Awards held at the Hinchingbrooke Performing Arts Centre.
High Sheriff Dr N W Brown MA (Hons) OBE presented a voluntary service award to Huntingdon Community Radio and a personal award for outstanding contribution to 18 year old Joanne Chappell.
The Awards included a cheque for £500 to support the Student Zone at HCRfm.
The Student Zone is a dedicated show made for HCRfm's youth audiences and produced by the Student Group, anchored by Russell Bundy. Presenters and producers will come together for the hour to let the Student Group shine and talk to everyone through the radio; they will be on the air to entertain and bring the local community to Huntingdon and neighboring areas.
The Student Zone will have a range of topics each week, keeping listeners updated in subjects that the team feels are of interest or concern to younger people. The show will even have a dedicated topic for Good News! The Student Zone will play a variety of music, the sort that will appeal to the students including some songs from the Top 40 and amazing classics.
