Mike Dawson

Born in 1967 in Bradford, Mike grew up near the seaside town of Hunstanton and then moved to London to seek his fortune aged 19.

For the next 20 years he lived in north London developing a passion for record shops, live music and Arsenal. Too young for punk, too unfashionable to be a mod, and too sensible to be a goth he embraced the indie scene of the 1980s and still worships at the altar of Morrissey.

In 2003, now with a wife and two children, Mike moved back to East Anglia and decided the riverside market town of St Ives would do just fine.

Mike runs his own asbestos and health & safety consultancy and spends an unhealthy amount of time on the Discogs website.

There are few things funnier than Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer being Donald and Davey Stott.

A copy of the Smiths 1st album, £1 from a charity shop, should be able to sell it for £30. As for new music, the Gorillaz album, Humanz.

I couldn’t imagine NOT doing radio!

What would you change about yourself if you could?

I should definitely have been born 10 years earlier, or even 5 would do. Oh to have seen the Sex Pistols change the face of music forever in 1976.

What is your biggest fear?

That Arsenal will never win the Premier League again.
