Russell’s first steps towards a radio career were on internet radio, broadcasting on Ice HQ radio back in 2003. He then decided to get some experience doing hospital radio at Hinchingbrooke Hospital Radio, and later in community radio.
While at St Neots’ Community College, he did work experience at 209 Radio in Cambridge in 2007, spending two weeks seeing what it was like being at a proper radio station. Oh boy was it hard for him!
At Hinchingbrooke Hospital Radio, Russell did voluntary presenting there, entertaining the people in the hospital and he still does it now.
He later found out about HCRfm through one of his tutors with at school, and got in contact with the station. Now as a result, he is playing an important role in the HCRfm student team, as co-presenter for the forthcoming Student Zone show for young people on Sundays.
What would you change about yourself if you could? Lose the stupid spots, and my nose
What is your biggest fear? Heights
What do you love most about Huntingdonshire? I would have to say HCRfm or maybe the GAME shop :)
