Books will be quarantined

Browsing in a bookshop is one of life’s pleasures but the practise is likely to be banned when they reopen according to Andrew Ellson of The Times.  Britain’s biggest bookshop chain will ask customers “to change their behaviour” – titles they touch but do not buy will be placed in quarantine before being returned to the shelves.

James Daunt, chief executive of Waterstones his shops are no longer going to be “a place to while away an afternoon” .  Customers who pick up books will be asked to place them in a trolley if they do not buy them.  These books will then be wheeled away to be stored for 3 days to reassure other customers that there is no risk of infection.

This month the government indicated that non-essential retailers, such as bookshops, will be allowed to reopen as from the beginning of June provided they met the CoVid-19 safety and security guidelines and that infection rates continue to decline.                                                       (Source: taken from the Times)
