Disability Huntingdonshire are our July Charity of the Month

Let’s introduce DISH…….

Disability Huntingdonshire (DISH) are a small, but long-standing, disability charity based in Huntingdon. We have been in operation since 1991 and have a long history of successfully supporting disabled people. We provide benefits advice, guidance and support for disabled people and their carers. Support is given over the phone, by email and face-to-face.

DISH are the only organisation locally who will also help people in their own homes, which is often the only way those most at need can access help to get benefits that will keep them independent and out of care homes or hospital.

What we believe:-

  • Our clients should be empowered to live full and independent lives.
  • We are an efficient and effective organisation.
  • We believe that all citizens regardless of abilities, needs or diversity should be treated equally.
  • We aim to work with and alongside our clients, not to do things to or for them. We also strive to work closely with other organisations who further the cause of our clients in the local community.
  • It is our duty to develop skill and competence so that we can effectively support and advise our clients.
  • We respect and value the diverse community within which we operate. We also strive to work closely with other organisations.

Many of our staff, volunteers and trustees have a disability themselves or care for someone with a disability and so understand the barriers disabled people can face. With the complex changes in the welfare benefits system, our services are more in demand than ever.

Our office hours are Monday to Thursday 9:30am – 2.30pm.
