Operation Christmas Child UK are our October Charity of the Month

The Shoe Box charity is another and perhaps more well known name for October’s Charity of the Month.  Operation Christmas Child UK is a Christian charity working in the poorest nations of the world bringing some Christmas cheer to children who may never have received a gift, let alone on at Christmas, in their short lives.

In 1993, Operation Christmas Child, a Wrexham-based children’s charity, announced its merger with Samaritan’s Purse. Today, they are one of the top fifty UK charities by income size and part of a number of national and international networks.  Operation Christmas Child is a hands-on way for you to bless children in need across the world by filling shoeboxes with toys, personal care items, school supplies, and fun gifts. The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world.

If you would like to fill a shoe box with children’s gifts – then go to our website which will give you detailed instructions about the type of contents which the countries where these gifts are delivered will accept.  For example, toy guns are not acceptable!  Many countries have other restrictions also.  If you choose to fill a box you can drop it off locally to a collection point in Huntingdon during the national collection week November 11-18th.  Find out more on line at https://occ.samaritans-purse.org.uk

Tune in on Wednesday 2nd October to local Operation Christmas Child representative, Sue Shorter on our Over to You programme at 7pm, to hear about you can help.
