Cambridge Libraries’ Summer Reading Challenge

Challenge 2024 theme is Marvellous Makers.

Developed by The Reading Agency and Create, a leading charity bringing the creative arts to those who need it most. This year’s challenge aims to fire up children’s imagination and unleash storytelling and creativity through the power of reading.


The annual Summer Reading Challenge is open to pre-school and primary school aged children and is for all reading abilities. It is free to take part.

How to take part

  • Children sign up at their local library or Mobile library.
  • Read six library books of their choice during the holidays
  • Collect a sticker for each book read – some are scratch and sniff

When they finish they will receive a certificate and medal. Under-3s will receive a special sticker medal.

Children can sign up from Saturday 13 July 2024. From Saturday 20 July 2024, they can collect their stickers at any time that we are open.
