Rabbit Awareness Week
This week is Rabbit Awareness Week in the UK. (RAW)
Each year, across the country at this time of year, vet practices, rescue centres and pet shops run in-store events to raise awareness of rabbit health, but this year RAW are going digital to help raise awareness around the 5 Welfare Needs of rabbits. Between the 10th and 23rd August 2020 RAW will be taking part in a Virtual Rabbit Awareness Festival.
The 5 Welfare needs for your rabbit pets are: diet: environment: behaviour: companionship and health. Our local rescue centre rescue centre, is Wood Green in Godmanchester where they always have a supply of rabbits who are looking for a permanent home.
Did you know that obesity is fairly common in rabbits? – a lack of space in their accommodation and unbalanced diet can be two reasons. Thankfully, there’s plenty of things you can do to help your rabbits to maintain a healthy weight. Did you also know, that rabbits can become depressed on the loss of a companion rabbit?
If you would like to know more about the 5 welfare needs of rabbits or owning a rabbit yourself, check out the RAW website at rabbitwelfare.co.uk for more information.
