District council launches WEEKEND BULKY WASTE SERVICE
|Huntingdonshire District Council is to launch a Saturday collection service for bulky waste in December and January.
The service is for bulky household waste over 25kgs which does not fit in residents wheeled bins and all items collected are reused where possible by donating them to non-profit organisation and charities in the local area. This saves items in good, reusable condition from going to landfill, as well as earning people’s items a new lease of life.
Executive Councillor for Operations and Environment Marge Beuttell said: “This new service offers residents a cost-effective way to get rid of their bulky household waste, safely and at the weekend is a more convenient time for most people.”
“In May 2019, we donated a total of 547kg to charity, including items such as sofas, beds and cabinets.”

Please note that collection crews cannot remove the items to be collected from your house or garden, they must be placed at the edge of your property, next to the public highway, by 6:30am on your arranged collection day.
