Foodbanks continue to serve the community

Our local foodbanks in Godmanchester, St Ives & St Neots have seen increases in the numbers of people needing food. With the sudden shut down of companies, restaurants and shops there are many who will not be receiving the government’s promised financial help for some weeks. This leaves many families and single people without money to buy the basic necessities regarding food until they receive the first batch of compensation or they are assessed for Universal Credit payments.  Neither option takes place immediately and people have no choice but to turn to our local foodbanks for practical help.

Foodbanks are keen to assure those in need that they will continue to provide food parcels for as long as they are able. However, of course, this depends upon the generosity of local residents, who have been tremendous so far but please don’t stop the donations coming.

There are foodbanks in Godmanchester – located at Godmanchester baptist church in East Chadley lane open Mondays and Thursdays  10am to 2pm.

St Ives in the parish church open Tuesday’s and Friday from 10am to 12 noon.

There are 4 foodbanks on St Neots all administered from the Britains unit in Eaton Socon.
