When could hairdressers and salons re-open?

Hairdressers and salons were among the services asked to close their doors five weeks ago, on March 24, after Boris Johnson’s address to the nation the evening before. But how long to wait until they re-open? Judging by the rest of Europe, lockdown is slowly, and cautiously, being lifted in stages over the next month. Other European countries are following suit with France and Spain planning to keep their lockdown in place until later next month.

So when could hairdressers and salons open in the UK? There’s been no definitive answer yet, although it’s likely they’ll be among the first to re-open with the Government’s ‘traffic light’ system – which means they could potentially open as early as May 11

Lockdown has been full of stories of DIY hair nightmares as people have attempted to do their own hair, and sales of at-home hair colour have seen a major upswing. The fact that salons look likely be among the first businesses to re-open after lockdown is sending people into a frenzy; salons are having to set up waiting lists and issue vouchers in order to manage demand.”   (Source: The Telegraph 23/4)
