Julie Stevens (Jumping Jules)

Julie has had Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for over 30 years. She used to be a teacher and was a successful athlete. Nowadays, her MS has progressed so much, she uses sticks, wheelchair or mobility scooter to move around. Julie loves writing poetry and her poems tend to reflect the impact MS has had on her life, as well as other topics close to her heart. Julie writes for both adults and children. She is thrilled they can relate to her poems and are finding them inspiring. Her debut chapbook, Quicksand, was published in September 2020 by Dreich and she won Stickleback micro pamphlet Balancing Act in June 2021 by the Hedgehog Poetry Press. Julie donates all proceeds from sales to the MS Trust charity. Being disabled hasn’t stopped her from having fun. It just means, in her words, “I have to shine my light in a different way”.
