The next exhibition at St Neots Museum is ‘To Do List’ which showcases portrait photographs by up and coming local photographer Grace Bristo taken during the COVID 19 lockdown. Included in the twenty one portraits are some familiar local faces and their hopes for life after lockdown.
Until earlier this year Grace lived in St Neots and had been a student at Longsands School where she studied ‘A’Level photography. Her love of the subject took her to Nottingham University to study photography and she is now a freelance photographer working on projects for Amazon Music, Amazon Fashion, Converse, Warner Music and Notion magazine. During the COVID pandemic she was, like most of us, stuck at home and looking for things to do.
Grace started her COVID project in March 2021, a year into the pandemic, which was she felt was a significant milestone for many. The photographs were taken over several months with some portraits of people she knew and others complete strangers. Grace said ‘Although in many ways the portraits represent the upcoming ease of lock down measures, it is also to present the feeling of anticipation, joy and hopefulness. In a time that so many have been longing for their normal life – whatever that may mean to them, this photography series is to share a feeling of community and similarity between many.’
Learning Officer Lesley Sainsbury said ‘I first saw Grace’s portraits on Facebook and was really struck by how beautiful they were and how brilliantly they captured such an important time in our lives. I was delighted when she agreed to exhibit them at the museum as they are amazing record of St Neots during the pandemic’
The exhibition ‘To Do List’ by Grace Bristo runs from Tuesday 7th September to Saturday 9th October 2021 at St Neots Museum. Further details are available from the museum website www.stneotsmuseum.org.uk.
