The third Godmanchester Town show, since the revival of the produce and flower show’s demise in the 1960’s was held in the St Mary’s Church in Chadley Lane on Saturday 16th September. The original Town show was possibly one of the oldest in the county as its debut was in 1886 when the local horticultural society decided to hold a display of their members produce.
2017’s Town Show was an amalgam of the traditional and modern day. The traditional classes showing off the best of garden and allotment produce in the shape of vegetables, flowers, plants and preserves were joined by floral arrangements, cookery classes, handicrafts, photography as well as some superb children’s competition classes.
Additionally this year there was an Art Section where the public were invited to judge which entries they thought were the best. There were amazing entries in all the categories and especially in the children’s sections where St Anne’s school pupils entered over 200 items across the different classes.
Well done to everyone who entered the show and especially to the organising committee.
