HCR104fm’s regular on-air soap ‘Huntsford’ has achieved national recognition at the 2018 Community Radio Awards, seeing off four other nominees to be crowned winner in the Arts and Creative Radio of the Year category.
Over 200 attendees were at the celebrations, which took place in Sheffield in September, to see some of the 30 members of Huntsford cast and crew receive the prestigious Gold award.
Like all award-winning soap operas, Huntsford is the continuing story of a local community and its members – their dramas around their businesses, families, relationships, challenges, loves and losses! Set in the fictional market town of Huntsford, the twice-weekly soap – now in its third season – deals with themes and issues that are relevant to our listeners and our own communities. The judges praised it as a “real community soap drama” and described the whole production as “first class”.
Producer and director Sue Rodwell-Smith says “It was fabulous to be voted for by our peers. We are absolutely thrilled that all the hard work from all in the ‘Huntsford’ team has been recognised.”
