October’s Charity of the Month is the TS Cromwell Sea Cadets

Huntingdon Unit 593 of the Sea Cadet Corps, better known as the TS Cromwell Sea Cadets is a UK-based youth charity affiliated with the Royal Navy that provides activities for children and young people up to the age of 18. The unit meets in Bradbury House on Mayfield Road, Huntingdon regularly on Thursdays for training and on Wednesdays during the summer at Thrapston Lakes, it serves young people from Huntingdon and surrounding areas, including Godmanchester, St Ives, St Neots, Ramsey, Sawtry, Somersham, and Warboys.

The unit is part of the broader Sea Cadets organisation, which aims to help young people launch well in life through a range of activities including sailing, windsurfing, powerboating, rock climbing, camping, and music, alongside opportunities to gain qualifications that can be taken into future careers.

TS Cromwell has a strong track record of achievement, and the cadets, themselves, say that being a cadet makes them more confident, more self-reliant and that they are comfortable speaking to anyone, they are good team players who are skilled, with qualifications to prove it, with positive habits and thinking, adaptable and motivated.

The unit’s official website is http://www.sea-cadets.org/huntingdon/, and it can be contacted via email at scc-ts.cromwell@outlook.com.
