The Riverport Café has been closed for some months while roof repairs were completed on the Corn Exchange, St Ives and it was originally planned to re-open last October.

The Mayor of St Ives, Cllr Philip Pope cut the ribbon to welcome customers back to the café which is a great community hub and warm space in the heart of the town today (Monday 22nd January).  The Mayor was delighted that he could perform the opening ceremony.  There was even a queue of customers waiting at 9am in readiness for the opening.

Rob Jackson, Chairman of the Corn Exchange committee said,  “I am so excited that the café has re-opened.  Everyone has mentioned how much they have missed it and kept asking us when it was to re-open. Monday is market day here in St Ives and the Corn Exchange café is ideally placed for people to pop in for coffee after shopping.  The café has great surroundings, there are new offers and it is a friendly place to meet up with friends.”

Cambridgeshire Police Sergeant Andy Carrojana was at the opening bringing the force’s new “Coffee with a Cop” initiative to the town.  The police have been meeting face to face with the community in an informal setting in recent months to allow the public to ask questions and raise any concerns they have directly with the police. These sessions have already happened Ramsey, Hemingford and Warboys.  Andy was delighted with the venue and feels sure that Coffee with a Cop will return to the Corn Exchange later in the year.
