Snowdrop planting at Coneygear Park

The Coneygear Community Garden is welcoming residents to celebrate friendship as 2000 snowdrop bulbs are planted across Coneygear Park by members of the community, local school children, seniors groups, and dedicated staff and volunteers.

To mark 60 years of Britain in Bloom, the RHS have announced that this year’s theme is ‘Friendship’. As part of the Huntingdon in Bloom campaign, the Coneygear Community Garden are hosting a snowdrop bulb planting event on Wednesday 14th February at 10:30am to celebrate the friendships you can develop through gardening.

Participants are invited to plant a clump of snowdrops in honour of someone who is or has been a good friend to them. There are postcards available for participants to write the name of the person they are thinking of and what it is that makes this person a good friend. These can then be taken home or displayed at the centre. The image on the postcard was taken of snowdrops that are currently in bloom in the community garden.

The event is free to attend and no booking is required. For more information, please contact Kim O’Brien at the Coneygear Centre on 01480 388677.
