Fenland Light Railway @ Fenland Light Railway
Apr 28 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

We open selected Sundays through the year with occasional Saturdays on special event weekends.

All our open days are pre-book only,

We are currently operating a pre-book only system

Please remember: no one is allowed on site without a pre-booking.

On a running day we run 2hr booked sessions with 12 groups (family) of up to 6 persons in each group, this reduces the number on site and gives each group their own dedicated seating. It means the MAX number of public on site is limited to a number that gives everyone lots of space.
We have 6 seating pods and 6 picnic tables (marquee covered) to allow for seating for all the groups.
NOTE: The amount paid to pre-book (£15) gives you 7 tickets when you arrive on site to use against train rides or refreshments, you can then add to that and purchase anymore train rides or refreshments to suit your needs.
ADDITIONAL RIDE /REFRESHMENT TICKETS CAN ONLY BE PURCHASED ON THE DAY
We have card and cash payment facilities on site.
If you are unable to attend then we are not able to refund your booking fee. Running the reduced numbers we need a MIN amount of bookings to be able to keep the railway viable, we have had a few people that wanted a refund as they didn’t want to come as it was raining.

Tickets can be purchased through Ticketsouce at the link below.

Tickets are released for booking 7 – 21 days before an event.

Ironsides! – Cromwell Museum @ Huntingdon Market Square
Apr 28 @ 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

This April sees the 425th anniversary of Oliver Cromwell’s birth in Huntingdon. To commemorate his birth, the Cromwell Museum is bringing some of Cromwell’s cavalry to the main square in Huntingdon for an afternoon, next to where he recruited his first troop of cavalry in August 1642.

Come to Market Square on Sunday 28 April to meet costumed re-enactors, including several  cavalrymen mounted on horseback from the period of the Civil Wars of the 1640s. They will be on show from 12pm until 4pm, with talks on cavalry and weapons of the period at 12pm, 1pm and 2pm.

Oliver Cromwell was born in Huntingdon in April 1599; he lived in the town for over half his life. Although he moved on to St Ives, then Ely, he returned to his birthplace regularly. On 27 August 1642 he raised his first troop of 60 cavalry to fight for Parliament against King Charles I on Huntingdon Town Square, outside the Falcon pub – which is still there, little changed since that time.

Join us on Huntingdon Market Square that day to find out more about this fascinating period of history!
